What to Include in Your Wedding Invitations

When planning a wedding, the invitation is often the first glimpse your guests get of your big day. It's important to ensure it’s not only beautiful but also informative and helpful. Here's a guide on what to include in your wedding invitation to make the experience seamless for everyone involved.

Once you’ve provided me with the essential details—venue, date, timings, etc.—I’ll craft the wording for your invitation. Of course, this will always be sent to you for approval before it’s finalised. The aim is to ensure it reflects the tone and style of your wedding perfectly.

Consider including local information to assist your guests. Many of them might not be familiar with the area, so offering guidance on how to navigate to the venue can be very helpful. This will help avoid any confusion or late arrivals on your special day.

Here are a few additional ideas you might not have thought of:

Dress Code: Clearly state if there’s a specific attire you expect from your guests. This avoids any potential awkwardness or discomfort.

RSVP Method: Use one method for RSVPs to keep everything organised. I offer a wedding website service where I can collect RSVPs for you, ensuring nothing gets lost.

RSVP Deadline: Set a clear deadline for RSVPs. Liaise with your venue or caterer about their deadlines for ordering crockery, food, etc., and work backwards from there.

Timings: Include the schedule for the day, such as the ceremony time and when the event will end (usually referred to as “Carriages”).

Venue Restrictions: Inform your guests of any venue restrictions. For instance, if there’s a lack of phone signal, suggest they book taxis in advance and include some taxi numbers. Mention parking arrangements, such as whether cars can be left overnight, and provide details on local accommodation options. If the bar only accepts card payments, your guests will appreciate knowing in advance.

Emergency Contact: Provide an emergency phone number for the day, typically that of a groomsman or usher. This way, guests have a direct point of contact if they need any assistance.

By making your invitation as detailed and clear as possible, you’ll ensure your guests have a smooth and enjoyable experience, from the moment they receive the invite to the time they leave the celebration. For more tips and personalised calligraphy services, visit Inviting Writing.

Creating a well-thought-out wedding invitation not only sets the tone for your wedding but also ensures everything runs smoothly on the day. I’m here to help make that process as easy and enjoyable as possible.
